This talk revolves around working with the World War I prisoners of war recordings from the “Lautarchiv” at the Humboldt University, Berlin.

How do artists and academics approach the “sensitive collection”? How do they deal with translations? What is missing in historic translations and in the act of translating as such? How can the archive be approached from a contemporary standpoint? How to develop artistic works from it? How to make sense for academic research?
The participants – academics and artists – will present their approaches and get into a discussion.
